In a compelling fusion of wellness, sustainability, and cultural diplomacy, the Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI), in partnership with the Embassy of Ethiopia and the Ministry of AYUSH, hosted a special edition of Harit Yoga—titled Coffee and Harit Yoga—on the serene lawns of the Ethiopian Embassy in New Delhi.
The event, held as a prelude to International Yoga Day 2025, brought together a distinguished assembly of diplomats, wellness advocates, environmentalists, and cultural leaders. With yoga as the unifying thread, the gathering showcased how ancient practices can serve as a powerful medium for international collaboration and environmental consciousness.
Ambassador Fesseha Shawel of Ethiopia opened the evening with a resonant message of peace and shared global well-being. “Yoga is a precious gift from India to the world. It inspires unity and holistic health,” he said. “This event beautifully merges our traditions of hospitality, mindfulness, and sustainability. It is through such experiences that we build bridges across cultures.”
A reflective yoga session led by Ministry of AYUSH-certified instructor Lalit Madan set the tone, followed by a traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony—an emblem of community and ritual. The symbolic pairing of yoga and coffee underscored the interconnectedness of wellness traditions across continents.
One of the day’s key highlights was a sapling plantation drive, where notable figures including former Union Minister Alphons Kannanthanam and spiritual leader H.H. Acharya Dr. Lokesh Muni Ji participated, reinforcing the event’s emphasis on ecological stewardship.
Speakers throughout the evening emphasized yoga’s capacity for personal transformation and its potential to drive global wellness initiatives. Topics such as sustainable tourism and Indo-African partnerships were explored, spotlighting India’s expanding influence in the global wellness landscape.
Dr. Blossom Kochhar, known for her work in holistic beauty, lauded the cultural synthesis on display. “The fusion of yoga and Ethiopian coffee ceremonies shows how diverse traditions can unite to enhance human well-being,” she said.
Subhash Goyal, Founder Chairman of STIC Travel Group, added, “Yoga and cultural diplomacy are instrumental in positioning India as a global wellness hub. Events like these promote not just health but meaningful international engagement.”
Philanthropist and filmmaker Dr. Sanjanaa Jon echoed the sentiment: “These gatherings remind us of the deep connections that transcend borders, inspiring growth—both individual and collective.”
With its thoughtful blend of ancient wisdom, modern wellness, and cross-cultural dialogue, Coffee and Harit Yoga marked a powerful step toward building a healthier, more united global community.
