The UAE Yoga Committee, formed under the Ministry of Sports and the UAE Sports for All Federation, has announced a new framework to regulate yoga practices across the country.
Ahmed Ibrahim, President of the UAE Yoga Committee and Vice Chairman of the Asian Yogasana Federation, said the goal is to create a unified approach to yoga that includes all residents, regardless of their background.
“Our aim is to regulate yoga across all cities and for all nationalities living in the UAE,” Ibrahim said. “With over 200 nationalities here, we support every form of yoga—physical, mental, and spiritual.”
He emphasized that the committee’s work is based on inclusion. “There will be no discrimination. We are here to support everyone. That is our mission,” he added.
Ibrahim stressed that yoga is for people of all faiths and cultures. “Yoga is not haram. It has many origins. We are starting with the physical side because it is more widely accepted,” he explained.
He noted that once people begin to feel the physical benefits, they may also begin to understand and value the deeper aspects of yoga.
The UAE Yoga Committee’s approach aims to make yoga accessible, respectful of diverse beliefs, and beneficial for all.
